Moonflowers

I call these pieces Neon Moonflowers. I make them by combining my hand-shaped neon tubes with vintage glass light shades. I am always looking for new ways to repurpose old materials, and I find the classic glass of these light shades really enhance the glow of neon. I bend the neon coils freehand, without the use of a form, and splice two different colors of neon tubing together to create a pistil for the flower. The light shade serves as the “petals”, and each one is chosen carefully for its shape, design, and texture of the glass.
